Voted BEST OF SHOT 2019 by RECOIL Magazine

Born from the SOCOM PDW solicitation, the NEW Maxim Defense PDX™ is designed to handle the fierce demands of the Tier 1 community. The PDX™ dominates close-quarter encounters and achieves maximum energy on target.

At just 18.75″ in overall length, the PDX™ delivers groundbreaking power and performance in a subcompact platform.

At the heart of the PDX™ is our Maxim SCW™ system. This patent-pending system cuts down the length of the stock to 4″. The integrated BCG with interchangeable buffer weights gives you maximum performance and versatility without sacrificing form and functionality. The PDX uses a Direct Impingement system.

The PDX™ comes equipped with Maxim’s HATEBRAKE™ muzzle booster. This patent-pending device significantly reduces recoil, decreases the flash signature, pushes gasses, and concussion wave downrange away from the operator, and improves overall performance.

It was $1995.00 before Memorial day. Then on Memorial Day weekend they raised the price to $2300.00 and say it’s on sale and they’re giving 20% off! FAKE SALE!

    • :

That was preorder pricing. The PDX is also excluded from the sale.

    Txchopperdad,
I bought the PDX pistol when they had the NRA sale. It was a great deal! The only issue the long production time. In there defense they said there would be a wait. So I was prepared for the wait. The pistol is so amazing and awesome to shoot and handle. I can’t wait to buy it in .223 and if and when they make it in 300 blackout.

I shot this recently at a demo and am beyond impressed. As a retired Special Forces Weapons Sergeant who has worked many low visibility operations, I highly recommend this weapon. Everything about it was perfect, including its accuracy. If you’re in the low-vis business, buy it. If you’re a 2A gun lover, buy it. If you like looking at sexy guns, BUY IT!

Just purchased my PDX pistol in 5.56 Arid a couple of weeks ago. Added a SIG Romeo 5 optic and backup iron sites. Actually read my owners manual, disassembled, inspected and lubed the pistol before going to the range. First impression at this point was the high quality build and finish, as well as the looks, all first rate. Shot my first 100 rounds of 5.56 NATO ball ammo at 25 and 50 yards to dial in the optic and acquaint myself with the fit and feel of the pistol, and how it cycles and shoots. Tried different magazines to include the one included plus my Magpuls. Everything…fit, feel, feeding, firing…all functioned flawlessly, flash and recoil very manageable and surprisingly light…must be that Hatebrake. Very accurate and within 10 rounds, all firing from the offhand (standing, no bench or rest) had my optic sighted in and was really just fine tuning at that point. Absolutely worth the price for what I was looking for. I realize this is only the first 100 rounds, but what a pleasure to shoot. You know you made a great purchase when you can’t wait to shoot it again and again…its that satisfying. Looking forward to testing it at longer distances. If you’re an AR pistol fan, I think you’ll like this one. Thanks Maxim Defense for a superior product.

Got my PDX pistol from local dealer through RSR, first it’s sexy as hell, second got to run couple hundred rounds through it, ran like a champ with assorted (cheap to match) no failures, out to 50 yards it’s a precision instrument, at a 100 she produces 2″ groups, 200 and 300 unless he’s anorexic he’s dead, I went back and forth on the sig and this and very happy I went with this, it fits in my go bag like it was made for it, thanks guys for a great product, already ordered a stock for my Bushmaster BTW, and my son is in RASP heading toward Ranger school and he will be getting one for graduation, God bless America my friends

Hit the 1000 round mark this afternoon. This mini-monster ate everything from junk (traded two boxes of Black Hills for two boxes of steel cased Tula ‘cause I don’t own any junk ammo) through 75g Hornady TAP SBR. Cycled everything flawlessly. Surprisingly accurate at 200yds. Running a Trijicon MRO green dot with a Geiselle Precision Mount. I actually prefer the pistol brace to the stock, nearly as compact and far more comfort and stable on my shoulder. Balance and recoil are also excellent. Up close in rapid fire I can easily keep everything on steel on the move. In night fire with quality ammo the Hatebrake is astonishing at minimizing muzzle flash. Definitely not a gimmick, it does everything as advertised. Fit and finish are still in very good shape considering the beating I put on my guns. Gotta agree guys, this one wasn’t built for safe queens! Well done.

After borrowing my friends pdx pistol in 7.62×39 i fell in love with it. Received this as a father’s day gift from my wife , have put about 1,500 rounds through it and not a single malfunction have fed it every kind of ammo brass, steel. High end. Cheap . This thing is a trooper. Hardly any recoil (im a big dude 6’3 and about 250lbs built) looks small in hand oh but it handles so well, paired with a sig red dot and ive gotten surgical with it. Very accurate!

I love mine! It is a very high quality firearm. Fun to shoot too. I use the Maxim ammo developed for the short barrel and it really makes a difference. I have only shot it at indoor ranges with limited yardage, but it has proven to be very accurate with an Eotech 512 as the optic. I was not really looking for an AR pistol platform, but the PDX has changed my mind.

I just bought a PDX pistol 7.62 and broke it in with my son. What a beautiful top-shelf piece of equipment this is! It runs beautifully and is spot-on accurate. Both my son & I have other guns, and for both of us the PDX went instantly into the “favorite” spot. It has less perceived recoil than a 9mm 1911. Instead of a “crack” like a hammer smacks the end of the barrel, this is more of a “thud” as if the recoil event is stretched a bit (hatebreak?). I have an M21, light and laser on mine…
Bottom line, JUST BUY THIS! I’ve never regretted buying a top shelf item, and this is no exception.
I did buy mine through gunbroker as I wasn’t willing to wait 8 weeks, I needed a new car gun…
    Thanks for building the best!
    Bill

I have had no problems with the firearm in the standard form. This is very fun to shoot with low recoil as advertised. The handguard does get hot after about three mags but it does not bother me. 7.62×39 is a lot of firepower going through such a small barrel. The PDX is enjoyable to clean and actually looks cooler than I was expecting in person. The brace is comfortable. I stocked up on a bunch of Duramag CPD 30 round mags. I actually prefer AK47 platforms but this tiny AR platform is the ultimate PDW. This is definitely my favorite firearm.

Just took my PDX pistol in 7.62×39 to the range. I put two magazines through it as a warm up. Accurate and no recoil. Well worth the wait to get one. My new truck, SHTF gun!
